NAWBO Chicago Announces Membership Drive

We are excited to announce our 2010 Membership Drive, which begins March 1 and ends April 30. The Drive will kick off with a Prospective Member Breakfast, which is complimentary to all business owners who are not-yet-NAWBO members considering membership, and to NAWBO members who are bringing guests.

All new members who join during the membership drive will enjoy $25 off their membership dues for the first year. They will also be entered into a drawing for two amazing prizes:

Grand Prize: One free ticket to every single NAWBO event in the 2010 – 2011 year, beginning with the Achievement Luncheon

Second Prize: A NAWBO Chicago Web Site Visibility Package, including the Member Spotlight for one month, a Banner Ad on any page but the home page or events page, and the opportunity to post a Podcast in the new Podcast Library. This prize is worth $850.

Additionally, the two NAWBO members who refer the most new members will also be awarded with these prizes.

Membership Criteria

  • NAWBO Membership is open to individual business owners who own an equity interest and actively participate as a sole proprietor; an active partner of a partnership or active member of a limited liability company; and independent contractor; or individual owners of 5 percent or more of the stock of a corporation and who are involved in policy-making and day-to-day management of the corporation.
  • Members must join both the national organization and a local chapter.
  • A NAWBO membership is recorded in the name of the individual, not the organization.
  • Membership dues are nonrefundable and are subject to change.
  • A new member's join date is the first day of the month NAWBO National receives payment

Membership Categories and Dues Structure

Established Business Owner -Owns an equity interest and actively participates in a business as a sole proprietor, an active partner of a partnership or active member of a limited liability company, an independent contractor, or a 5% or greater shareholder in a corporation $350
Supporting Member - A non-business owner who subscribes to the objectives of NAWBO and wish to lend support to NAWBO through membership $500
Emerging Member - A first time business owner with a new business less than two (2) years old, or who has not yet started her business. Reduced rate only available for first year of membership. $250
Student Member - An individual who is registered full time at a school or university who subscribes to the objectives of NAWBO and intends to start a business $150
